a splendid 1930s house reinvented and restored
The owners had lived in this lovely house (one of the most interesting in Didsbury, with a large garden), for some years, intending to restore and extend the property and unlock the house’s true potential.
We remodelled the ground floor to create a large, contemporary, open plan space with the kitchen and dining area at the rear. We kept a sense of the period in the design of the lounge and reading room at the front, with two further rooms for use as offices or playrooms. We also brought the garden into the home, through beautiful floor to ceiling sliding doors leading to a tile clad terrace to the lawn beyond. Extending the house to the side and rear enabled us to create 5 spacious bedrooms, 3 with en suites. The use of oak, handcrafted into beautiful door and window surrounds complimented the oak flooring and stylish interiors. The result is a stunning home for both entertaining and family life, realising the full potential of this magnificent 1930s house.
